New Castle Police Officers “Ride for Those Who Died”

Seven New Castle police officers prepare year-round for the Police Unity Tour, a bicycle “ride for those who died” that begins on May 9, 2008 at Ground Zero in Manhattan and ends 300 miles and three days later in Washington, D. C.

New Castle residents would recognize them as officers who patrol the town by bike; some take part in Horace Greeley football team’s “Strongman” competition in June (they do very well).

The object of the Policy Unity Tour is to raise awareness – and funds – for the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund which give financial support to the families of fallen officers across the nation.

Contributions to the fund are tax-deductible.  Checks can be mailed either to the New Castle Police, Attention: PO Giraldez, 200 South Greeley Avenue, Chappaqua, N.Y. 10514, or to the Police Unity Tour, New York Chapter 37, P.O. Box 2043, Miller Place, N.Y. 11764.  Phone 238-6346 with any questions.  The Tour’s website is www.policyunitytour.com.
