This year, the terms of two members of the elected five-member Board of Education will expire in June. If you are considering, or just curious, about what’s involved in running for the Chappaqua Board of Education, please come to an informational meeting on Tuesday, February 23 at the Horace Greeley Faculty Lounge (off the cafeteria) at 7:00 p.m. You will find out about how to become a Board of Education candidate and current Board of Education members will explain the responsibilities and requirements of the position. This meeting is hosted by the Citizens’ Non-Partisan Candidate Committee.

What is the Citizens’ Non-Partisan Candidate Committee (CNPCC)?

The purpose of the CNPCC, which was formed in 1947, is to seek out and encourage well qualified candidates to run for the Board of Education. The CNPCC is comprised of a cross-section of community members who must be registered voters. CNPCC members interview Board of Education candidates who wish to come before the committee.

Although CNPCC is involved in searching for candidates, it is not a legal requirement to come before CNPCC in order to run.  Anyone interested in running for the Board of Education should contact Theresa Markley, District Clerk at 238-7225 to obtain a petition. The deadline for filing the petition is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 19.

If you would like to come before the CNPCC for a candidate interview, please contact Vicky Tipp at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or 238-2310, or Lea Barth at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or 238-5153 to obtain a Candidate Information Form and arrange for an interview.  Candidate Information Forms are due on Monday, March 22.

Vicky Tipp and Lea Barth are the co-chairs of the Citizens’ Non-Partisan Candidate Committee.
