“Visual aids” to show what we lose

As part of his attempt to raise awareness of what the town is losing – besides the bridge—by moving forward with the State DOT’s bridge project, architect Chuck Napoli was out early Monday morning with Jane Holmes to attach “visual aids” to the forty-some trees that are marked for removal as part of the bridge reconstruction project scheduled to begin this September.

He had the plans for the project with him on which trees for takedown are marked with an “X”.
He managed to circle many of the larger trees with hot-pink danger tape; for a grove of trees he draped the tape around the group.  Some of the trees grow alongside the bridge, other quite mature specimens are down at parking level, at the bottom of steps.  See our Photo Gallery for views of the bridge with its vegetation.  Most of it will be gone.  The pink tapes had disappeared by mid morning.
