Walk to fight brain tumors with Team Amy Crabtree

Dear Friends,
Once again we are gathering to walk in the annual “Have a Chance, Walk to Fight Brain Tumors” on Sunday, October 18. Our team, Team Amy, is walking in support of my mother, Amy Crabtree, who has been battling an aggressive, malignant brain tumor, glioblastoma multiforme, for almost 19 months. Over these months, we have tried every kind of treatment from the standard of care to experimental treatments, to diet alteration and vitamin supplementation.
Every day is exhausting, but we still have good days, and those are what get us through the very bad days. More than ever, this summer and fall have emphasized the need to raise awareness and funds for research to battle brain tumors. So many people struggle with this relentless, essentially incurable illness, and yet it is, for the most part, widely unheard of by the general public.
If you have the time and energy, please come join us for the walk. We would love to see you there!
What: “Have a Chance, Walk to Fight Brain Tumors” - a 5k walk around Manhattan
Where: It starts and ends in Battery Park
When: October 18, 2009 (Sunday), registration begins at 8:30 a.m., the walk is at 10:00 a.m..
Why: Because there is still no cure for brain tumors
Who: Everyone.
If you can’t come you can still help, so read on.
Certainly, many of you will remember last year: Team Amy raised almost $50,000 for brain tumor research and patient support. It was a truly inspiring morning, when over 150 people showed up to walk in the rain with our family. We hope that you’ll be up for it again this year (although this time, we’ll hope for some sun!). All are welcome to join, donate, or help us raise funds. Please visit our website: http://www.active.com/donate/HaveAChance/TeamAmy to make a donation or register for Team Amy.
All donations are tax deductible. Anything and everything will be enormously appreciated.
Thanks to everyone. If you have any questions about registration or making a donation, please don’t hesitate to contact me (email: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), cell: 646.533.6421).
Hope to see you this Sunday!
