Looking for something to do during February Break? The New Castle Recreation Department has plenty to offer. See “Read more:”
**NEW** Sciencesational “Can you Dig It” Fossil Hunt Vacation Workshop
Ages: 6 - 11
Day & Time: Thursday & Friday, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm
Date: February 18, & February 19
Fee: $160
Location: Community Center
Each child will partake in a simulated fossil excavation, uncovering the different bones of a dinosaur! Each child will assemble bones to form a completed 3-dimensional dinosaur to be taken home. Your child will grow some beautiful crystals for them to take home. Children will make plaster fossil replica of a Tyrannosaurus rex tooth or choose from other molds.
**NEW** Mad Science – Science of Toys
Grades: K - 4
Day & Time: Wednesday, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Discover the physics behind crazy toys like the Slinky, Yo-Yos and gyroscopic tops. Learn the difference between potential & kinetic energy while we spend all day playing with cool stuff!
Tuesday, February 16 - “The Up, Up & Away Show”
*11:00 - 11:45 am, Chappaqua Library
Just wait until you learn how the weight of the earth’s atmosphere pushes down on you with the force of two elephants! Explore how Bernoulli’s principle creates enough lift to make a jumbo jet fly or how air pressure can be used to launch a hot air balloon. Watch in amazement as our vortex generator creates giant smoke rings. Want even more pressure? Take a ride on our amazing Mad Science Hovercraft! This program will leave you flying high!
*Free Family Movie Following the show. We will show the Disney hit, “Up”, starting at 12:00. So bring your lunch and stay for a while.

F.I.R.S.T. (FUNCTIONAL INTEGRATED REACTIVE SPEED TRAINING)
Grades: 8 – 12
Day & Time: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:00 – 7:50 pm

Location: Horace Greeley High School

Go from worst to FIRST! This program conducted by Prescriptions for Fitness is designed to satisfy the training needs of motivated athletes. Four intense sessions will improve conditioning, strength, agility, speed, and flexibility. Recommended for all level of athletes who want to improve their athleticism. 1 pm - Celebration of Memories: Bring pictures and stories to tell.
2 pm - Maureen McElheron, Harp player performs.
February 24 - Trip to the New York Historical Society
Exhibit - Lincoln and New York
