On SATURDAY, February 4th, we will have Campapalooza!, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. We have invited all of our Day Camp Administrative staff, Art Camp, our sports camp staff and our specialty camp staff to attend and give out information.
We will also have free refreshments, games, raffles and entertainment for the kids at 11:30, 12:30, and 1:30.

Art Exhibit @ Temple Beth El: “Temporary Shelter,” art installation about homeless NYers, 2/3 - 2/17
Feb 3Fiber Artist Heather G. Stoltz tells the stories of homeless men, women and children through her installation piece Temporary Shelter. The art piece, which takes the shape of a sukkah (free-standing hut), will travel to Temple Beth El of Northern Westchester starting February 3. The piece will remain on display at Temple Beth El through February 17, and Stoltz will be speaking at 9:45 AM on Sunday, February 5 to share the stories she heard and the process leading to the piece. She will also be available after the 7:15 PM Shabbat service on Friday, February 3 to answer any questions people may have.

“We had such an overwhelming response that we ended up adding three more sessions so we could accommodate more people,” said Joe Gentilesco, certified American Heart Association CPR Instructor and EMT. “It was a great day. There was a lot of enthusiasm and I know that the information shared today will ultimately benefit the entire community.”
CPR saves lives. Statistics show that the earlier CPR is initiated, the greater the chances for survival. The next CPR course is scheduled for January 29, 2012. To be hold a place for the the next session, email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
”Today was a very eye-opening and powerful experience. Learning hands-on what to do in an emergency situation is invaluable,” said New Castle community member Troy Schlaitzer.
Founded in 1936, the Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps is a volunteer organization dedicated to providing quality emergency medical services to the residents of New Castle. The 70+ volunteer members are a diverse group, from teachers and lawyers to entrepreneurs, students, parents and grandparents. In addition to responding to more than 500 calls annually, CVAC reaches out with programs to educate the community on First Aid and CPR. Funding comes solely from private donations and insurance. No doubt many of you have made resolutions to eat better in the new year and the Chappaqua Farmers Market is going to make it that much easier—and fun—to do so.
We are very happy to announce that Stone Barns of Pocantico Hills will be bringing their gorgeous poultry (and rock star eggs!) every week that the market is open this winter. Many of you have asked for more winter greens, and this week, we are delivering: please welcome Newgate Farms of Windsor, CT. This is a family-run farm that goes back five generations. They will be bringing cauliflower, butternut squash, iron-packed kale and more. We are so excited to have them join our market family.
Ditto for Flour City Pasta, of Rochester, NY, which will be bringing their small-batch organic pasta every Saturday.
This, on top of so many of our regular favorites: the husband and wife team of Fork & Glass Catering Co. got inspired during our holiday break. They will be bringing an unbelievably tasty cannelini soup with country ham and rosemary. Their laurel-infused cauliflower soup was such a hit in December they are bringing lots more along with their Chicken and Cheese Enchiladas with Roasted Tomatillo Salsa ready to heat and serve with their Cowboy Beans and Mexican Rice available individually by the pint.
Plus: they will be whipping up some Norwegian pancakes for breakfast and three types of quesadillas for lunch: Cheese, Black and Bean and Sweet Potato as well as Roasted Chicken tossed in lime juice and cilantro.
This week - organic farm Gaia’s Breath will be visiting us again with plenty of cuts of pork, beef and heart-healthy veal. In addition to veal sausage, meatballs, shanks and roasts, they are also now making delicate veal pastrami. They are also selling lovely coarse country pate in small portions - ideal to serve thos unexpected guests, with a glass of wine and crackers (and cornichons, of course).
Amazing Real Live Cheese Co. is developing a loyal following thanks to interesting, pro-biotic cheeses like Chaource, a semi-soft log that parades as goat but is made with cow’s milk.
Pickles will be outside this week. Grab a pickle on a stick to nibble on while you shop and then grab your pints of pickles as you head out.

Hudson Chorale: Carols & Lullabies, Dobbs Ferry 8pm
Dec 10Following the performance of two glorious and highly successful concerts during its first
year, Hudson Chorale, Westchester’s largest mixed-voice chorus, will begin its 2011-
2012 season with a festive holiday program for chorus and solo instruments.
The program, entitled Carols and Lullabies, includes selections that will appeal to every
musical taste – classical (Brahms), contemporary (Stephen Chatman), sacred (three very
different settings of O Magnum Mysterium) and for those seeking traditional fare with a
new sound, there is Conrad Susa’s captivating Carols and Lullabies: Christmas in the
Southwest. A small, eclectic orchestra featuring harp, guitar, horns, oboe, vibraphone,
and marimba promises to bring shimmering depth and color to the choral mix and add a
festive sparkle to an already magical evening.
The performance will take place on Saturday, December 10th at 8 PM in the newly
refurbished and acoustically superb auditorium of the Dobbs Ferry Middle/High School,
505 Broadway/Route 9, in Dobbs Ferry. Michael Conley, Music Director, will be
conducting. Mr. Conley is a celebrated composer, pianist, organist and singer as well as
conductor and one of his pieces, a setting of O Magnum Mysterium, will be performed.
Tickets are $25; $10 for students, and can be purchased at the door or in advance by

Westchester Legislators Announce Dates for Public Hearings on County Budget
Promise to complete spending plan with a 0% increase in the tax levy
White Plains, NY – The Westchester County Board of Legislators (BOL) announced today the dates that it will hold a series of regional public hearings to present the public with the proposed 2012 county operating budget. These are oversight meetings, in which Westchester residents and other concerned members of the public can comment about the 2012 budget submitted by the County Executive. The purpose of these hearings is to receive input from the public regarding the taxpayers’ priorities in preparation for the development of the final county budget.
The Southern Westchester County Regional Public Hearing on the 2012 Budget will take place on Tuesday, November 22. The Northern Westchester County Regional Public hearing on the budget will take place on Wednesday, November 30. Both hearings will start at 7 PM. Presently, the exact location for these two hearings is still to be determined.
On Thursday, December 8, the third and final Regional Public Hearing on the 2012 Budget will take place in the BOL Chambers on the 8th Floor of the Michealian Office Building in White Plains. This hearing will also start at 7PM.
“In these challenging economic times, it is more important than ever for elected officials to be effective guardians of the taxpayers’ money while actively involving the public in this process,” said BOL Chairman Ken Jenkins (D-Yonkers). “This is what makes our democracy work. Each year, the public hearings on the budget give us an excellent idea of what our priorities should be in terms of spending and generating revenues. I look forward to these hearings and sincerely urge county residents to attend and participate.”
Jenkins added the Board was promising to keep the budget sufficiently trimmed in order to facilitate a 0% increase in the County tax levy.
Last year, the BOL thoroughly debated and examined the County Executive’s proposed budget, and instead of accepting his 1% decrease in the tax levy cut spending even farther to create an historic 2.2% decrease in the tax levy.
“As usual, we want to work with the Administration to reduce the size and cost of County government,” said Legislator and Majority leader Peter Harckham (D-Katonah). “In this climate of economic uncertainty, we need to keep looking for smart savings and cost cutting measures. Still, the Board takes seriously the importance of keeping core services in place for our residents, especially in this time of economic downturn.”
Legislator and BOL Budget & Appropriations Committee Chairman José Alvarado said: “This County government has worked through the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, and we are determined to maintain our sound fiscal condition. What we have experienced financially has forced all of us in government to assess our priorities, so that going forward we can be good financial stewards while minimizing the impact any reductions in spending will have on essential services. With the public’s input, this Board will craft a budget that makes sense.”

From Thanksgiving through December 24th, Family Britches will donate a portion of the sale proceeds on any clothing line for men, women or boys to the Chappaqua School Foundation when “CSF” or the Family Britches advertisement in the December issue of Inside Chappaqua is mentioned during the purchase.
Family Britches will be hosting a brunch for the community in its store on Sunday, December 4th starting at 11am to highlight the holiday initiative to support CSF.

Our community is very fortunate to have great schools, outstanding teachers and principals and engaged parents to ensure our children are prepared to succeed in life.
Our challenge is to not “assume” that the outcome for our children is assured once we have become residents of Chappaqua. Having a sustained commitment to excellence and innovation in our schools is the key differentiating factor that will ensure the children of the Chappaqua School District are well prepared for a global economy.
So we, at the Chappaqua School Foundation, are grateful to be able to support our community’s commitment to achieving the excellence and innovation we want to ensure in our schools. Soon, members of our community will receive a letter from CSF including an attachment that shows the commitment of this community to investing in initiatives that support all six of our schools.
Our local business community has also invested in supporting our schools over the years and is working with CSF to find new ways to do more. Last spring many of our local businesses generously supported our new initiative “April Madness!” This year, Family Britches is thoughtfully donating a portion of your holiday shopping dollars to support the efforts of CSF as well as hosting a brunch this Sunday, December 4th where you can learn more about CSF.
CSF Appreciation Cards are a wonderful way to celebrate a special occasion, thank a teacher, or honor a coach while supporting our sustained commitment to excellence and innovation in schools.
