With the Special Election for the 89th State Assembly seat coming up tomorrow, February 9, New Castle has been much more than a mere whistle stop on the New York State Assembly main line.  Not only did it host the League of Women Voter’s Candidates’ Night last Thursday, but the two candidates, Bob Castelli and Peter Harckham, and sitting Assemblymen like George Latimer have been visiting town with pleasing regularity.

Warning: public access channels move to digital tier Tuesday, Sept. 16

Just as a batch of ten Cablevision channels, including C-Span’s Book TV, shifted last spring from analog to digital-only, so too, the “PEG” channels – “public, educational and government,” 75, 77 and 78 – will follow suit and move to digital-only on September 16, 2008. That means they will only be available on televisions that have a digital cable box, at $6.50 per box, per month.

Award-winning documentary filmmaker Eric Metzgar kicks off New Castle Community Media Center’s Guest Lecturer Series on Wednesday, May 11, at 5:30 p.m. with “Directing the Documentary,” a two-hour class that will cover multiple topics including interviewing strategies, story development, field shooting and music scoring.

Welcome NCCMC, the new media center, formerly known as NCCTV

NCCTV has a new name, and new home and a new mission. Learn all about it at their booth on Community Day. NCCTV has become the New Castle Community Media Center, or NCCMC. They have moved their studio from “the room at the back of the Horace Greeley High School library” to a newly renovated space behind Talbot’s at the top of King Street.

Hear that banging in Suite 2 next to Talbots at the top of King Street? It’s the sound of volunteer efforts building the new state-of-the-art New Castle Community Media Center (NCCMC). By mid-July, New Castle Community Television, known by its acronym NCCTV, plans to unveil this new media access center. Limited operations will begin on July 15, with a grand opening scheduled for September.
