Athletic Director Steve Young leaves CCSD for position in New Rochelle

by Jill L. Klein

This week, the school district’s Athletic Director Steve Young announced that he will be stepping down from his position. On Monday, Young informed coaches and Phys Ed staff by email that will be taking a job with the New Rochelle school district this fall as Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics. Young’s last day as Athletic Director for CCSD is Friday, August 10.

Ten years after retiring as Athletic Director for CCSD, Pete Kuczma, was re-hired on June 19, 2012 to be the “Supervisor of Athletics” at Greeley.  Young was to have been responsible for all other sports as well as for the new Annual Professional Performance Review process for coaches and Phys Ed teachers.  Instead, Kuczma will become “Interim Athletic Director.”

Jill L. Klein is a 2012 Greeley graduate who is headed for Barnard College this fall. She is the founder of The Quake and a former New York Daily News intern.

Good luck Steve.

So…..does this mean Tribou is going to be reinstated?

So…..we now have an Interim Athletic Director and an Interim Head Football Coach.  And isn’t one of the Assistant Principals an Interim Assistant Principal?

Do we need a full-time athletic director ?

Now if the Town Rec Commission could clean up the fields and incompetence in that department we could get back to Chappaqua, New Castle, and Greeley all being feared names in Athletics again!

When would a decision about Tribou be made? I hope they’ll reinstate him soon.

This time around perhaps he will take notice when coaches haze athletes.

Dear Interim Athletic Director? What about partnering with the town’s rec dept to expand the sports program for non-competitive high school and middle school kids?  You know….many kids drop out of sports. We need a way to get our young people moving!
