The Town Board has scheduled a public hearing for 7:45 p.m., Monday, September 24 on a zoning change to Chappaqua Crossing that would allow limited retail uses in that part of Chappaqua Crossing now zoned for business, office and research. The proposed zoning would require an anchor grocery store of 50,000 to 60,000 square feet and several ancillary retail stores to occupy a minimum of 5,000 square feet each.

Commissioner of Parks and Recreation Bob Snyder appealed to Town Board members in a Wednesday work session to direct the New Castle Police Department to begin issuing violation tickets to dog owners or dog walkers who are flouting the leash regulations that are posted throughout Gedney Park. “Three town employees have been bitten in the last five years,” said Snyder. “Ticketing people who aren’t following the rules is the best approach. There is a lack of enforcement of the rules, and without that, the rules don’t mean a thing.”
