Reader’s Digest Update

The first public hearing regarding the development of the Reader’s Digest property, as mandated by New York’s State Environmental Quality Review Act, will be on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008 from 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

The town board will announce the second date at their next meeting, a work session on Dec. 18. The board is considering Jan 15, and Jan. 22, both Tuesdays, and would have hearings in the afternoon and evening for public comment.

The town board announced that 12 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, 2008 is the deadline for written comment on the proposal. Comments can be mailed or dropped off at town hall to the attention of Town Clerk Jill Simon Shapiro. The town board also approved an agreement with HR&A to act as special consultants to assist the board as they enter the scoping process regarding the Reader’s Digest property. As the board goes into the scoping process, HR& A consultants will perform a financial analysis of the existing use and operation of the Reader’s Digest property, the proposed plan by Summit Greenfield for the property and possible alternatives.
