Special PB meeting to discuss details of cell tower, 130-foot monopole or fake tree?
Monday, July 28, 2014
Editor’s Note: The Planning Board has scheduled a special meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30 to discuss details of the Homeland Tower/Verizon cell tower on the Alfredo property on Armonk Road. The public hearing was closed on July 15 after a report from a radio frequency consultant confirmed that the 110-foot version would not fill the wireless coverage gap Homeland has identified. But a130-foot tower—rather than the 150-foot tower at first proposed—will do the job. It remains to decide whether it should be a pole with antennae or one disguised as a tree.
Announcement of the special meeting:
Notice is hereby given that the Planning Board of the Town of New Castle will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at 6:00 P.M., at the Town Hall, 200 South Greeley Avenue, Chappaqua, New York, or as soon thereafter as practicable, for continued discussion and action on an application from Homeland Towers, LLC, New York SMSA Limited Partnership d/b/a/ Verizon Wireless, and Alfredo Landscape and Development Company, for approval of a Special Use Permit and a Wetlands Permit approval for a wireless telecommunications services facility on a property located at 620 Armonk Road (NY Route 128), and designated on the tax map of Town of New Castle as #101.11-1-2.
Monopole is the least intrusive choice. Need is met and neighbors are given maximum respect. What other possible rationale.
I think the term monopole may not mean what you think- I think thats tyhe pole with all the antennae sticking way out from the top. The flag pole has the antennae internally to the pole- which would not be so bad. Of course the Planning Board really missed the boat by declaring the application comp[lete when it wasn’t and then being too lazy to investigate the alternative Twin Oaks site when it fell in their lap. I think they are more enamored with their opinions on CC, which isn’t really their decision anyway, than doing what is their responsibility.
Editor’s Note: “Monopole” is the type with the antennae sticking out. That is the type they’ve approved.
